January 5 - 11, 2026

This week:

Montreal refuses to slow down after the holidays, so this week’s Sunday Round Up (Jan 5–11) is all about easing back into real life without actually calming down. It is a cozy mix of light festivals, movie‑level concerts, proper club nights, and a lot of Habs hockey, which basically means the city is doing what it does best: being extra for no good reason.

Monday is a soft launch with FestiLumi at Marché Central, the kind of winter light festival that makes you forget your toes are freezing because everything around you is glowing. It is ideal first‑date or “I’m pretending I’m outdoorsy” energy, and a nice reset before the week starts throwing actual noise at you.

On Tuesday, L’Horizon de Khéops at the Old Port keeps the visuals going, but with more of that immersive, art‑installation vibe. If you like when your Instagram stories look slightly unhinged but still classy, this is the move, and the Old Port backdrop never hurts.

Wednesday switches the mood completely with the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Calgary Flames at Bell Centre at 7:30 p.m., which is always an excuse to yell in public with strangers and call it community spirit. Once the jerseys are off and the beer wears off a bit, Down2Techno at Red Room at 10 p.m. is there for anyone who wants to trade arena chants for a dark room and a proper low‑end workout.

Thursday might secretly be the strongest night of the week. Neko Case at Théâtre Beanfield at 8 p.m. brings that rich, alt‑country‑leaning voice and storytelling that hits way harder live than it ever could through headphones—this one is for the lyric obsessives. Meanwhile, the Habs are back at it, this time against the Florida Panthers at Bell Centre at 7 p.m., so you can literally choose between cathartic sing‑alongs in a theatre or playoff‑style stress in the stands. If you still have energy after that, ICI Musique x SAT: Dans le Dôme with Corridor at SAT at 8:30 p.m. is where things get dreamy and immersive, with live music wrapped in 360‑degree visuals under the dome.

Friday leans back into pure going‑out mode. Ferias at Datcha at 10 p.m. promises one of those tightly‑packed Mile‑End nights where the dance floor feels like a reunion and you lose track of time in the best way. Over at SAT, Club SAT x Front Rite rolls out a stacked lineup featuring Öona Dahl (US) and Moti at 10 p.m., a big one for the heads who love deep, hypnotic sets that still manage to feel emotional. If your New Year’s resolution was “go to bed earlier,” this is the week it politely dies.

Saturday might be the most chaotic in the best way. The Canadiens face the Detroit Red Wings at Bell Centre at 7 p.m., which already sets the tone for a busy downtown. Later that night, Anna Rose at Le Livart at 10 p.m. brings a more intimate, artsy atmosphere—think people who want music with a side of gallery energy. Kompromat at MTelus at 8 p.m. adds another layer, featuring a darker, industrial-tinged electronic show in a room designed to feel both huge and personal. And for the true late‑night loyalists, Dômesicle x Format at SAT with Measure Divide (TO), Mike Larry and Xia at 10 p.m. is where you end up when you want serious techno in a dome and you’re not afraid of a 3 a.m. exit.

Sunday, somehow, still has gas in the tank. The Vinyl EP launch for POSTREAL001, presented by Acid Dreams at Bar Le Record at 5 p.m., is pure record‑nerd heaven—new wax, community energy, and the kind of small‑room vibe where you actually talk to people about music. Earlier in the day, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in Concert at Salle Wilfrid‑Pelletier at 2 p.m. lets you live your full nerd fantasy with a live orchestra scoring the film in real time. It is dramatic, it is extra, and it is exactly the brand of over‑the‑top this city deserves on a Sunday.

Enjoy the week and get out there!
